Break the Internet: Nikki minaj

Let me just start by saying that I don't like Nicki Minaj -- I love Nicki Minaj. I have always loved her music, her vibe and her approach…she's in your fucking face. She was a star from the first moment she gave us the one-two punch of her verse on Kanye's “Monster" and her debut album, Pink Friday. She's appeared on every track that we know and love, and has collaborated with just about everyone cool. Funny fact, an image of Nicki sitting with Anna Wintour at New York Fashion Week (a gift to me from photographer Patrick McMullan) has been a centerpiece of my art collection in my home. Nicki has been on my mind for years. We have never called an issue Break the Internet since we did it back in 2014 with Kim Kardashian. It takes a certain type of talent, with an awesome fan base and the ability to put trust in PAPER to work our magic. I have always loved all of the looks that Nicki has done (and she has done them all). Her style (typically anchored by her off-t...

Eminem, Beyoncé release new single "Walk on Water"

Eminem has enlisted Beyoncé for the release of the lead single from "Revival," his first album in four years. The 45-year-old Detroit rapper, whose real name is Marshall Mathers, released "Walk on Water" Friday after hinting at the release on social media earlier in the week. He posted a faux prescription that read: "Walk on Water. Take as needed." In the Rick Rubin-produced track, Beyoncé sings: "I walk on water, but I ain't no Jesus. I walk on water. But only when it freezes." The song debuted on Eminem's YouTube account and streaming services. Eminem's latest album is scheduled to release on Nov. 17, a day before he performs on "Saturday Night Live."

Sean ''Diddy'' Combs Changes His Name to ''Brother Love'' on His 48th Birthday

Happy birthday to our main man...Brother Love? As those crazy kids Romeo and Juliet once taught us about the importance of the question, "What's in a name?"—so has  Sean  "Diddy" Combs . For the rapper, the answer to the query is: both a lot and a little. The constantly name-changing music mogul, who was born Sean John Combs, announced today that he has decided to once again tweak his moniker—this time he's moving from "Diddy" to "Love" or "Brother Love." In 1997, Sean was known as "Puff Daddy." A year later, he went back to using Sean John. In 1999, he flipped the script and started going by "Puffy." After that, he used "P.Diddy" as his professional name and more recently he's gone with the nickname "Diddy." We thought that it would last forever, but not so fast... In a  Twitter  video that the beach-going Love (because that's what we're calling him now) posted ...

Las Vegas shooting victims struggle to afford mounting medical costs

Kurt Fowler and his wife, Trina, were celebrating their 18th wedding anniversary at a country music festival when the shooting started. Fowler, 41, knew he'd been hit in the ankle and couldn't run. He hid under the stage until the gunfire ended. "I knew my foot was completely useless," said Fowler, a firefighter from Lake Havasu City, Arizona, and a father of three. He underwent surgery, spent nearly two weeks in the hospital and still may need another operation. He also will need rehabilitation and follow-up visits with a specialist. Fowler has a Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO through his job, but he said he doesn't know how much he will have to pay out of his own pocket for the care he is receiving. In an era of higher deductibles and limited choice of in-network doctors, however, he knows he could face significant medical bills. His insurance card says his individual deductible is $5,000 and his coinsurance 20%. He said he didn't know how much his hea...

Grace Jones says she was sexually harassed during casting for first big film

Musician, actress and model Grace Jones has revealed she was sexually harassed when she landed her first big acting role. Speaking to CNN's Christiane Amanpour on Thursday, Jones said the unnamed producer on the Ossie Davis-directed film asked her to bring her portfolio to his house so that he could make a final call on her casting. "He (the producer) poured some champagne, he was in his bathrobe and of course, took me to a room ... it was his bedroom," Jones said. "So with the champagne, even then at that young age ... I threw it in his face and walked out the door." The 69-year-old's account comes in the wake of multiple allegations of sexual harassment and assault in the entertainment industry. Dozens of women have accused Harvey Weinsten of sexual harassment and police are investigating assault claims. Weinstein has apologized for his behavior, but he denies all allegations of nonconsensual sex. Jones said that for alleged perpetrators of...

Extinguishers are sold online and at The Home Depot, Walmart, Sears and other stores

May fail to activate or nozzles may forcibly detach, causing injuries If you've never taken a close look at your fire extinguisher, now would be a good time to check it. The US Consumer Product Safety Commission  announced the recall  of more than 40 million Kidde disposable fire extinguishers Thursday, saying they may malfunction during an emergency. The faulty extinguishers are equipped with plastic handles and push-buttons and can become clogged. Their nozzles also may detach with enough force "to pose an impact hazard," the CPSC said. The recall covers 134 models of Kidde plastic-handle fire extinguishers manufactured between 1973 and August 15, 2017, including models that were recalled  in 2009  and  2015 . It also includes eight push-button models manufactured between 1995 and September 22, 2017. The extinguishers are sold online and at The Home Depot, Walmart, Sears and other stores. A faulty Kidde extinguisher may have played...

MRI scans show the difference between astronauts on varying lengths of spaceflight missions

Floating in zero gravity can put quite the squeeze on the human brain, according to a study published in the New England Journal of Medicine on Wednesday. Researchers scanned astronauts' brains using magnetic resonance imaging before and after varying lengths of space missions. The MRI scans revealed brain changes in a majority of the astronauts who returned from long-term spaceflight missions. "There appears to be increased cerebrospinal fluid and an upward shift of the brain within the skull," wrote Rachael Seidler, a professor at the University of Florida's department of applied physiology and kinesiology, in an email. Seidler has participated in similar studies but was not involved with this one. "Similar to our recent findings , there are spaceflight duration effects," she said. "This additional cerebrospinal fluid 'squeezes' the brain, making the space between brain regions appear smaller. It will be important to ...
